Pai Gow Poker

Each time I see the words Pai Gow Poker, I always think it is Chinese specialty or something in this genre. Little did I know it was a poker game that has been around for centuries. Moreover, it was traditionally played in the Domino style with tiles instead of cards. Well, times have changed and so has this particular game. You can now play Pai Gow Poker with cards on a Blackjack table of all things. Using one deck of cards and a joker, Pai Gow has become a popular genre for American online players.

Playing Pai Gow Poker

I must admit that although I haven’t actually played Pai Gow Poker for real money, I have played this game in a non-gambling setting and it is quite unusual, but fun nonetheless. The genesis of this game is to beat the dealer’s hand with the seven cards that you’re dealt. But here’s the catch. You have to split the 7 cards you are dealt into two hands: one low with two cards; and one high with five cards. Easy - right? It will take a while to understand how this game is played, which is why I highly recommend you read the rules and then play for fun for a few hours until it all makes sense.

Let’s Play Pai Gow Poker

Place your bet first. The minimum bet is $1 and the maximum is $200. Once the bet is placed, click on Deal. You will be given 7 cards. As usual, the dealer’s cards will be face down. Now select two cards from the seven to make your low hand; then choose five cards to make your high hand. If you beat the dealer’s hands, you win. If only one of your hands beats the dealer’s hand, you push. If both your hands do not beat the dealer’s hands, you lose. Once again, it is very important that you read the rules carefully and practice play so that you fully grasp this game. Once you do, you will be hooked, as I was. Who knows – you may win enough to order a complete Chinese dinner!
